Nexus Pyrosphere flame effect diagrams 1 through 3

The PyroSphere crew has been hard at work for the last few days. Steve Cronberg, the head programmer has been making major changes and adding major functionality to the code, while Erin Banwell, Vaughn Parsons, David Ampersand, and Nathan Crane have been plumbing up 9 valves onto a section of the finished sphere.

Are you dying to get your grubby little mits on one of these premium, straight off the press, made to order Nexus hoodies, and contribute to the PyroSphere simultaneously? Last year we successfully raised enough dough to offset nearly half of the propane bill! Lets do it again!

The Fire Tornado is a mechanical device that creates a vortex of fire. We’ve seen it get to 20 ft tall! The Fire Tornado was created, designed and constructed by Erin Banwell in the summer of 2006.

The Fire cauldron was the center piece of the 2008 Nexus fire installation:
A 7 ft diameter, half sphere pool of water with fire bubbling up out of the murky depths.
It became a gathering spot.
Heat seekers came….
Conversationalists came……..

The 2009 Nexus Fire Art installation at Burning Man consisted of 5 seperate flame effects. Four of these were equipped with 3/4 inch solenoid valves and 125 gallon accumulator tanks, and were capable of producing 15 to 20 ft bursts of flame.
