09.09.09 :: Nexus is Online!
You may have noticed a few small changes on the Nexus website. Okay… it’s like a whole new planet. We have gone on a journey from Nexus Nebula to Nexus Universe… where we have all we need in one nifty place. The Nexus name has been polished and packed into a new shiny logo (and it rotates!). Nexus is straight up, sideways, and upside down… just like the crew, it will come at you from all directions but somehow manage to end up as one. We are a group of individuals coming together for a common vision, and here’s where you can watch it manifest on the web.
The new website is fully loaded with an events calendar, blog posts, photo galleries, comment threads, a newsletter, and much more! We encourage you to subscribe and become part of the Nexus family. Help us evolve. Your comments, photo uploads, and participation in the website is going to be what makes it grow into the warm and fuzzy web family that we have always dreamed of. Sit tight, strap in, and hold on for the ride. It’s going to be a little bumpy at first, but we promise once we launch out of this beta stage you will feel right at home.

You’re 2 steps ahead. The feature was JUST added, check your profile page! It’s at the bottom. Mysterious Nexus replier = resident webmaster Crystal Rose. I’m all up in the Nexus default profile as the site gets constructed. I have my hard hat on.
Keep your hard hat on! It’s going to be a rough transition! There’s no shoulder on this road and the pot holes are big enough to eat a monster truck! I wanna upload some photos my self, so hopefully I’ll figure that one out soon. Seems to be running a bit slow at this point but I’m sure it will all speed up soon. I want to send a massive email to the community at large and announce MAZE PARTY NOV. 7th!!!!! woo hoo! can’t wait!
Uploading should be easy…. Just go to the community gallery and click the link to upload. Right now all photos are going into one giant collective and later we will use the data attched to them to organize into galleries for the members, etc. Just trying to get everyone to jump into the pool and upload all photos into one place. But Mr. Randolphin, I have a special gallery for you and the Nexus crew, details to follow.

Bulk uploading would be as fantastic as plumbing on the Playa. Thank you for the link to your photos, Sir DDT! We have added To-Do Item #1497 to the bottom of our bottomless list: the ability to upload photos in mass.
For now, if anyone and everyone could click the simple upload link and drop some of your favorite snapshots in the gallery, we can start our digital scrapbooks and all feel warm and fuzzy inside.

True. We’re still testing methods for doing stuff on the site. Our first idea is still in beta. In fact, we have some hoops set up outside with flames around them. They are rotating at a 45 degree angle like the Nexus logo, and in order to use the site you must wear a suit of liquid polyurethane through a swarm of bees after climbing to the top one of the Nexus domes, then you must jump through the flaming hoops. This must be done at night, with tinted goggles and only one shoe…. and it’s a stiletto.
We’re still looking for volunteers. In the meantime, we’ve set up the site to be as easy and pain-free as possible! Things here will evolve and improve with our community. Thank you for your love and comments!

Playing with this new site, which I think is evolving as I play. Just noticed how names magically appeared next to the photos in the gallery. Cool. I uploaded some pics, but definitely agree with DDT’s request for mass upload. I’m sure it will be awesome when you get to it. Another cool idea I had would be two-fold, one that lets you know who else is logged in and the other might be something like a google chat for those on the site. Not sure if that gets crazy with the programing, but that would be a nice touch for collaborating…. hmmm this just gave me a whole series of ideas. What about things like shared white boards and x-drive spaces to distribute relevant files to one another. This all might be as a behind the scenes area for on going projects and the people involved with them. At the school I teach at, I was recently introduced to Adobe online office, which I don’t care for as a replacement to in-person meetings, however, where in-person is too hard or impossible, it did seem like an amazing tool for collaboration.
